Mila has released a four-and-half minute video clip showing Pacific humpback whales playing with divers, and then attempting to make contact with them, in Tonga. Mila originally offered the video to major news media, which expressed no interest so he felt that YouTube seemed the most logical venue to reach the public. His motive in publicizing the video is to raise public awareness about continued illegal whaling by Japan and several other nations.

WDCS, the Whale and Dolphin Conservation Society has learned that in his last days in office, outgoing Fisheries Minister Einar K. Gudfinsson has issued a whaling quota for 150 fin whales and 100 minke whales a year, to run from 2009 until 2013.
